Managing Your Natural hair during this CoronaVirus Social Distancing





Hey Lovelies, I know these are trying times for us all, I can only imagine what you may be going through and want to let you know that every one of you is in my prayers. 

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.- Phillipians 4:16.”

I hope that you find these words comforting and know that

“He that is in you, is greater than he that is in the world”.

With that said, I have 3 things you can do to distract yourself as you have more time to spend at home.

1. Revamp or create a Healthy hair regimen

The most basic fundamental of growing maintaining healthy hair is having a regimen that works. I don’t necessarily subscribe to “trial and error” because it can cause irreparable damage to the hair or wasting money.

2.  Try the Rice water Challenge

The rice water challenge has been very popular, however, I didn’t try it because I couldn’t manage to have my hair wet for days due to work. However, at this time it seems more feasible. Also, note that if you have protein sensitivity this may not be for you, You can do a patch test if you are really interested in doing it. The rice water hair elixir is made from rice that has been fermented in water for about 12 hours. The water becomes rich with vitamins that promote healthy hair growth.  Rice water is believed to decrease hair surface friction and improving hair elasticity, which results in hair length retention.

3. Give your self a scalp massage

 During this time, it is crucial that you do what you can to reduce anxiety, stress, and fear. A scalp massage is wonderful for this and many other reasons.  The advantages include improved circulation, improved sleep, helps with memory, prevents flaky, itchy scalp and improves absorption of nutrients. Get your favorite oil, warm it up, apply to your scalp and rub it in.  it is important that you choose an oil that is good for your scalp, these oils should have low comedogenic factors meaning it has a less likelihood of clogging your scalp.
